NEWS WATCH: THE WEST MOON CHRONICLE from Scout Comics opens a portal to the world of Korean myth and folklore in East Texas!

The elusive creatures of mud and blood known as dokkabi live just off Route 4 in East Texas in the ancient pine forest known as Tanglechase. Joon-Ho, a Korean immigrant with a dark past, and his grandson Jae-Sun, a disillusioned petty thug, are the only people in nearby Vane City who know the true nature of the dokkabi. Together they must find out what makes the creatures hostile. Perhaps it has something to do with the interdimensional portal at the heart of the Tanglechase, for it is from here that the past comes knocking, demanding an account from both men.
“Most people outside of Texas don’t realize the state’s immense natural beauty. It’s not all deserts and tumbleweeds, as most movies would have you believe. There is a beautiful old growth pine forest on the east end of the state, and as someone who grew up there, this is my attempt to set the record straight. Korean mythology is rich with fearless swordsmen who roam the wilderness from adventure to adventure, much like classic Western stories of the mysterious gunslinger. So here is my fusion of two cultures that seem disparate on the surface but have a lot in common underneath: a modern western with swords, magic, monstrous villains, and a love that transcends space and time. I hope people will have as much fun reading it as I did dreaming it. WRITER/CREATOR Frank Kim
