JONESBORO, Ark. (KAIT) – Dozens of people came out to walk, run and roll for the disabled in our community.
Saturday was the second annual Family and Pet Walk-Run-Roll hosted by the Jonesboro Human Development Center.
The family event welcomed everyone, even your furry friends.
Some residents at the event say they go weeks without seeing anyone they know, this event has taken the community out and encouraged support from those in our community who need it most.
Along with showing support for our disabled community, the main purpose of the event is to raise funds to help those residents who are struggling with their funds.
“And letting them participate and walk with them is the highlight of their lives, residents love doing anything that will bring new people in and give them an adventure,” said Cynthia Wilson, volunteer coordinator at Jonesboro Human. Development Center. “The residents enjoy it, they love seeing new people, they make new friends and love taking the dogs out.”
Wilson said residents look forward to events like this where they have the opportunity to make new friends.
The walk ended at the Southside Sports Complex where activities such as face painting, baggo and coloring pages were held for all to enjoy.
Wilson said she plans to host the Family Walk-Run-Roll and Pet Walk each October and hopes attendance will continue to grow.
